ONEXENO Canasta Game
ONEXENO cards are published by Penrose Press. These are the official rules for the canasta game played with those cards. ONEXENO Canasta may be played by up to four players who tally their cards individually. For six to eight players, two decks of cards are required.

OBJECT OF THE GAME
The goal is to have the greatest number of meld points at the end of the game. Players gain meld points by forming rows of five to seven edge-matching cards. At the end of each hand, the points in a player's hand are deducted from the meld points that they have collected. The score from several hands may be tallied together to form a total score. In this case, the first player to tally a score greater than limit, ie. 500 pointd, wins.

SEQUENCE OF PLAY
________________________________________
Start Up
The first dealer is chosen by a draw of the cards. The player with the highest card is the first dealer. In case of ties, additional cards are drawn until the tie is broken. Upon completion of a hand, the deal passes to the player at left of the current dealer.

The Deal
After the cards are shuffled, the dealer deals 15 cards to each player. The remainder of the deck is placed face down as a draw stack. A single card is drawn and placed face-up next to the draw pile. Play then proceeds in turns in a clockwise manner, beginning with person to the left of the dealer.

The Draw
At the beginning of a turn, the player typically draws a single card from face-down stack. However, alternatively, the player may draw from the face-up stack. When a player draws from the face-up stack, they may take as many cards as they wish including the entire face-up stack. If a player takes card(s) from the face-up stack, they must meld the card at the 'top' of their draw, as in traditional canasta.

Melding Points
After drawing a card, the player may meld points by forming rows of cards in which the edges of all cards match. At all times, the sum of the points in a melded row must be greater than ten and less than or equal to twenty. When a player melds cards, the player places them in a row in face-up in front of themselves. Once cards are melded, they may not be moved, rearranged or taken back. During their turn, a player may add cards to the either end of preiously melded rows until the sum of the points reaches twenty. At the end of their turn, the player must discard a card by placing it on the face-up stack.

XENOs
When the value of a row reaches exactly twenty points, it is considered closed, turned over and set aside. These turned over rows are called XENOs. Each XENO is worth an additional 10 points.
Completed Xenos are illustrated below :
Once a Xeno has been turned over, it may not be modified or changed.

Going Out
To go out a player must have no cards in their hand and at least two XENOs. If a player runs out of cards without two XENOs, they must end their turn by drawing an additional card from the face-down stack. Discarding a card is not necessary if the player can go out. When any player goes out, the hand ends and the score is tallied.

Scoring
A hand is over when one of the players has no cards left in his hand, or when there are no cards left in the face-down stack. The score for a single hand is the sum of the points on the cards that a player has melded minus the cards remaining in their hand. The player also gets an additional 10 meld points for each ONEXENO that they have made.
The scores of individual hands may be tallied into a running sum. In this case, the player with the highest cummulative grand total is the winner of the session.
